I've found Narset a lot of fun, but have built my deck to be effective enough that I don't like playing it often. Just hope they don't have a way to put deathtouch on a blocker or find some other way to make you regret attacking. The best part of her ability is that damage doesn't have to get through to the opponent - all you have to do is attack. I went with equipment but you can use enchantments. If you do go for Voltron, you'll want ways to get Narset's damage through. will help a lot and you can also add in red cards like ] and ] to get enough juice to bring her out. A full set of every signet, monument, diamond, etc. You can get a lot of oomph out of enchantments but only really until the next turn.Īs for ramping, my experience so far has been that using a good slate of mana rocks does the trick pretty well. Also keep in mind that you can't attach an enchantment until after combat (unless it has Flash). To deal with that, look to put an ] on her or find ways to turn lands into creatures and then have them take the fall instead of your commander.Įnchantments: You have the benefit of not having to pay an equip cost with an enchantment, but the downfall that the enchantment will go away if Narset gets boardwiped. Sacrifice: If you run with token generators you'll have lots of chumps to sac if you play against a black deck but if you Voltron or go creatureless it can be very frustrating to be forced to sacrifice a creature and only have Narset on the board. Totem Armor: If you have trouble with board wipes, get every card you can find with Totem Armor and that will help a lot. If you don't care about winning and want to use her to trigger token generators, I think you could have a ton of fun with her but it'll make it much harder to win games (but more fun for your playgroup as a whole). With Narset you want to win by getting to 21 commander damage. Voltron: It should go without saying, but I'll say it anyways. That said, I have some advice which you can take or leave. Extra turns with Narset are often where your wincon appears. If you don't want to build extra turns into the deck, you'll probably only see success if you're not playing in a particularly tough playgroup.
